Hello, my name is Linda Baker MBACP, and I am an experienced professionally qualified counsellor. I work with adults on a short and long term basis, and have helped many clients work through a diverse range of issues and distress during difficult times in their lives. My practice rooms in Central London and Wimbledon Village are comfortable and centrally located for ease of accessibility by car and public transport. Please click my location page for maps and details.
You may be under constant strain juggling the demands of everyday living, at the breaking point dealing with redundancy or feeling isolated at work with pressures from a bullying boss. Are you confused about your sexuality/sexual orientation (acceptance and coming out). Whether you need help with stress, anxiety, depression, relationships, bullying, bereavement or trauma, I offer a neutral, confidential and supportive space in which you can feel completely at ease to talk about your thoughts and feelings – and be understood.
Counselling support for dyslexia
Additionally, I specialise in helping dyslexic adults to overcome traumas, arising from bad childhood experiences and an educational background that failed to help and support them with their dyslexia disability.
Sadly, undiagnosed dyslexic children can be left alone struggling to cope within the surroundings of the education system and at home. Thereby, inheriting a negative self-belief that goes with feelings of being 'stupid' and 'different'. No matter how much these negative messages are distorted and far from the actual truth; the wound, nonetheless, remains deep seated, effecting behaviour and can also be psychologically damaging into adulthood, limiting choices and adversely impacting upon self-esteem, personal relationships and working life. Counselling can help identify and disentangle these negative beliefs and restore a more positive and fulfilling sense of potential, confidence and self esteem.
How I work as a Counsellor
Caring, compassionate and down-to-earth, as an Integrative Counsellor, I am able to draw upon and combine a wide spectrum of theoretical approached within my therapeutic practice, including: psychodynamic, humanistic, person-centred, existential and the transpersonal schools of thinking. By the same token, counselling is not only just about applying my knowledge and using any one or more theoretical framework; Moreover, it is the nature and quality of an authentic therapeutic relationship that remains integral to bringing about a successful outcome. Along with empathy, I help objectively, so that you can work through your difficult situations and feelings in a safe and meaningful way.
My counselling sessions can help:
- Support, explore and alleviate emotional issues and distress
- Foster self-awareness and a healthier sense of self-confidence and self-esteem
- Discover clearer perspectives in life
- Identify, explore and revise negative and destructive patterns of behaviours
- Find better ways of dealing with conflicts, in personal relationships and at work
- Explore sexuality confusion/identity/acceptance
- Improve coping strategies
- Realise hidden strengths and potential for personal growth and change
- Enhance life choices
